Annual Meetings and Awards


Each year at our annual meeting, MHIC presents awards to individuals, organizations, and developments that represent extraordinary achievements in affordable housing and community development. Candidates may be nonprofit or for-profit sponsors with whom MHIC has done business or MHIC-financed developments that are exemplary.

2021 AWARDEES
Father Bill's & MainSpring, Inc.
Awarded Excellence in Community Impact During COVID-19 for rapidly mobilizing to provide safe housing and supportive services to the homeless in Southeastern MA, and for innovation in transforming the vacant Rodeway Inn in Brockton, MA into 69 permanent, affordable efficiency apartments.

Lena Park Community Development Corporation, New Boston Fund, Inc., and NEI General Contracting
Awarded Excellence in Racial Equity and Inclusion for directing 47% of the construction contracts to minority business enterprises and 68% of construction hours to people of color during the construction of Olmsted Green.

The Record Company
Awarded Excellence in Community Development for providing safe and affordable recording and rehearsal spaces to musicians with limited resources, creating a community for creators to develop their artistry and a hub for freelance producers and engineers to build their careers.

Valley Community Development Corporation
Awarded Excellence in Affordable Housing for its emergence as key player in meeting the housing needs of Pioneer Valley low-income individuals and seniors as a partner, consultant, and developer in creating 92 homes at Sergeant House, Northampton; Sanderson Place, Sunderland; and East Gables, Amherst.
