Developments > Church Street Senior Housing
A historic school in a rural part of Western Massachusetts has been restored to provide 29 units of affordable housing for seniors. Built in 1915, with sections added later, the school is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. MHIC financed the property with a $4.25 million low-income housing tax credit investment. This was MHIC’s first project to receive permanent financing and rental subsidies from the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program; 20 of the units are receiving subsidies from that program. HAP, Inc., the largest nonprofit sponsor/developer of affordable housing in Western Massachusetts, developed the property.
