About Fresh is a Boston-based nonprofit organization on a mission to strengthen communities by getting fresh food to the households that need it most. The organization currently operates two programs: Fresh Truck and Fresh Connect. Fresh Truck mobile markets get fresh, affordable, and culturally-connected food to Boston neighborhoods – including Dorchester, Roxbury, and others – and act as hubs for food, cultural celebrations, organizing, and activism. Our loan will be used primarily to accelerate the development of Fresh Connect’s data infrastructure, helping Fresh Connect healthy food debit card to enroll over 200,000 people and provide more than $130 million in healthy food benefits annually by 2028. About Fresh will make strategic upgrades and enhance functionality in the following areas: Data, Analytics & Reporting, Enrollment Infrastructure, Medically Tailored Product Lists (APLs) Management, and Integration with SMC Partners API. The Loan proceeds will also enhance the Borrower’s Fresh Truck program through upgrading refrigeration, benefit the company’s overall productivity through new computers, and improve liquidity by financing a portion of first year’s rent at its Magazine Street headquarters.
