Using MHIC’s $13.5 million New Markets Tax Credit investment, Boston Carpenters Apprenticeship Training Fund (BCATF) was able to buy the commercial condominium that houses its new headquarters and which provides space for expanded education. BACTF provides training and education to carpenter apprentices and journeymen carpenters. The training program outgrew its previous space; by moving into a larger facility, the Center can train a larger number of people and offer more classes. Carpenters who complete apprenticeships have the benefit of improved job prospects and security in the building trades, nationally recognized credentials, and opportunity for college credit.
