After struggling with temporary and inadequate space for many years, the sponsor organizations teamed up to create a new community education center. They bought an underutilized vacant lot owned by the City of Boston for a below-market purchase price, and built a 33,784 square foot, 5-story brick building. The new building, at 87 Tyler St., provides a permanent home for two nonprofits critical to Chinatown and the greater Boston Asian community. Both organizations are now better able to serve the community’s acute unmet need for education, skills training, counseling, youth services and childcare. In order to expand services, both organizations have added full-time employees.
