This project, which is perched on Admiral's Hill in Chelsea, provides assisted living for elderly residents of various incomes. The facility provides numerous amenities and resident staff services. The building has won awards for its overall design and architectural integrity. The second phase of this development, the Florence Chafetz Home, also financed by MHIC, involved new construction of a mixed-income residence for elders with special needs such as frailty or dementia. The Leonard Florence Center for Living, also at this location and financed by MHIC, was completed in 2010. That facility is a unique skilled nursing home – the only one in the country specifically dedicated to providing residences for individuals with multiple sclerosis and ALS.
