MHIC would like to formally welcome Paul Bernardin as our new Managing Director for Equity Origination & Underwriting!
Paul brings over three decades of leadership experience in real estate finance, underwriting, acquisitions, and asset management. Prior to joining MHIC, Paul served as Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director at R4 Capital, where he oversaw more than $3 billion in investment activity and led a national team of seventeen professionals underwriting affordable housing equity and debt transactions. In that role, he also chaired the investment committee and introduced streamlined underwriting standards and processes.
Earlier in his career, Paul held senior positions at Boston Capital, including Senior Vice President and Director of Underwriting and Due Diligence, where he managed multi-billion-dollar portfolios and shaped investment strategies for Low Income Housing Tax Credit and multifamily housing assets. He has also held executive roles at JPI Partners and consulted for major developers and investors.
Paul’s deep expertise and leadership in affordable housing finance strengthen MHIC’s equity origination and underwriting platform as the organization expands its mission-driven impact across the region. We’re excited to bring him aboard the MHIC team!
