Barr Foundation and MHIC's Regional NOAH Fund Luncheon

On Tuesday, leaders from philanthropy, state and local government, and the community development sector gathered at the Barr Foundation to explore how we can drive more capital into the preservation of Naturally Occurring Affordable Housing (NOAH) across Eastern Massachusetts through MHIC’s Regional NOAH Fund.

Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll opened the session with a powerful reminder: preserving NOAH is essential to maintaining housing stability and affordability in the Commonwealth.

We were also grateful to hear from Rafael Mares of The Neighborhood Developers, who shared how MHIC’s regional NOAH fund supported the acquisition and early preservation of the Park & Pearl properties in Chelsea—30 homes saved from speculation, stabilized for current residents, and on track for long-term affordability.

As housing costs rise and displacement threatens our communities, partnerships that drive capital into programs, such as MHIC’s Regional NOAH Fund, help ensure our region remains a place where people at all income levels can live, work, and thrive.
