Housing Navigator is a free online tool that makes it simple to search for affordable rentals in Massachusetts. Launched in August 2021 by Housing Navigator Massachusetts, Inc., a nonprofit formed in 2019, it allows anyone to easily search for affordable homes in over 275 towns and cities statewide, including urban, suburban, and rural areas. MHIC President and CEO Joe Flatley is a Housing Navigator Massachusetts board member; MHIC has supported this initiative for many years.
Access to high-quality information helps not just renters, but owners, housing advocates, homelessness providers, and housing funders. Moving forward, the MA Department of Housing and Community Development has mandated Navigator participation for the roughly 2,000 newly developed affordable homes it funds annually.
